A Story By Denise

All through the night the strange voice in my ear
At once far off and then so very near
Denise Denise Denise the voice did say
All through the night until the dawn of day.

We had pitched our tents on Aboriginal sacred ground
And ghosts of Aboriginals all around
And all through the night that strange voice I did hear
And I felt nervous I was touched by fear.

And though my ghost story they did not believe
Next morning told my sons this place we leave
I was determined to put miles and miles of space
Between ourselves and sacred haunted place.

My story not from voices in a dream
And my story true though far fetched it may seem
And still the voice call in my memory
From sacred ground of Aborigine.
