In the grounds of the Monash Uni in the shade of the oak trees
The weather quite warm for Autumn it's well over 30 degrees
The magpies and miners are singing and leaves dancing in the warm breeze
Were I to return to my homeland perhaps of the cold I might freeze.
In my home land by the Atlantic the birds are commencing to sing
And new leaves on the trees are sprouting in the chill winds of early Spring
But here in Victoria 'tis warm it's far more like Summer than Fall
And the magpie lark's voice is distinctive one never can mistake his call.
Through the grounds of the Monash Uni the young people walk to and fro
From these buildings to build that cost millions and that was a long time ago
Young men and women 'the could be achievers' of every race, color and creed
The Classrooms of the Monash Uni to greater things for them might lead.
In the grounds of the Monash Uni in the car park students drive around
In hope of car space that is empty for parking spots hard to be found
Many of these are from wealthy parents the children of the well to do
They even come from distant Africa and Asia to Monash for their goals to pursue.
In the grounds of the Monash Uni it's warm as a warm Summer's day
Who would believe that it is Autumn and Winter is not far away
Here you see the young and ambitious all day long walking to and fro
From these buildings to build that cost millions and that was a long time ago.
