Down at the R S L club they call her dancing queen
And she wheels around the dance floor as if she were nineteen
With faster tunes or slow tunes she's never out of time
And she's still more athletic than many in their prime.
She's lived through many Seasons and her hair is silver gray
And she's close to if not eighty 'I quote what others say'
But ask her what age she might be the answer she avoid
She say she is still young at heart and time still on her side.
Her husband died in world war 2 and for years she's been alone
And her three children now grandparents she raised them on her own
But she doesn't talk of her hard past or for the war shed tears
She dance a bit down at the club and enjoy a couple of beers.
The 'Aussie battler' Mavis is a credit to her race
And you always find her in good mood a big smile on her face
Down at the local R S L they call her dancing queen
And she wheels around the dance floor as if she were nineteen.
