The Crescent Honeyeater

Egypt egypt in woodland every day
At once so near and then further away
Egypt egypt and then brief bubbling song
I know that bird to whom that voice belong.

Egypt egypt familiar to my ear
The crescent honeyeater's voice I hear
On flowering gum small restless bird I see
And then he fly off to a nearby tree.

With dark gray back and undersides light gray
I hear them in the woodland every day
And patch of gold on tail and either wing
Egypt egypt the fanfare of the Spring.

Egypt egypt the heart in me rejoice
At sound of crescent honeyeater's voice
Egypt egypt I hear that voice again
the bird has gone the memory remain.

Egypt egypt the forest is awake
To voice of bird that no one can mistake
Egypt egypt and then brief melody
Of bird I know but not so often see.
