A Sense Of Place

Patriotism i can gladly live without
Though the old home place i often think about
Old Claraghatlea just out of Millstreet Town
With Clara mountain ever looking down
On that green countryside as old as time
Where i was born and raised and spent my prime
Though there today mine may be a stranger's face
I do still retain in me a sense of place
And though quite a journey from this southern shore
To the high fields of distant Claramore
I do go back there when i visualize
And from the bracken the brown skylark rise
And like a fading dot in the Spring morning sky
I hear him singing as to the clouds he fly.
