For Every Winner

The one with the disadvantage is the one slow to begin
And as in horse and greyhound racing the favourite doesn't always win
And sometimes the outsider can storm into first place
For to become another champion by winning the great race.

In the Human World as in dog or horse racing to win is the most important thing
Of Olympic champions and famous sports people their praises we do sing
And as the Abba song goes the winner takes it all
The names of the great champions we only do recall.

But for every winner there has to be losers and for one to be victorious and proud
There are so many disappointed that for them not the cheers of the crowd
One might say their best not good enough the winners are in the spotlight
The losers they look disappointed and they make for a sorry sight.

For every winner there has to be losers and the one that is slow to begin
Can often upset the front runer and storm to the post for a win
And the plaudits only for the winner and always for them an encore
The winner is centre of attention and the losers we tend to ignore.
