Oh bury me there in the field by the hill
Quite close to the banks of the babbling rill
That from the high country hurries on down
To join the big river that flows by the Town.
I'm tired of the human rat race and their greed
That to the destruction of Nature does lead
We live off of Mother Earth though us she doesn't need
And to some a wild flower is only a weed.
I am just a small grain in the great sands of time
One who is addicted to doggerel rhyme
And people like the Seasons they come and they go
But the rill to the river forever will flow.
On looking back the years they just seemed to fly
And it does not seem that long since I was a boy
The biological clock it keeps ticking away
And we near our end with every passing day.
Oh bury me there in my favourite place
In the field by the hill where the rill rapids race
Down to join the river that flows to the sea
To Nature I belong and she will claim me.
