Champions They Grow Old And Gray

Liston and Foreman to him fell
And he beat Joe Frazier as well
But even the champion boxer in his prime
Like everyone must bow to time.

Muhammad Ali a boxing all time great
Not been looking well of late
The one who once made boxing history
Now a shadow of the man he used to be.

He stood on the heights of boxing fame
And his is a legendary name
And his great fights we can recall
But time takes care of one and all.

Never thought I'd live to see
One as humorous and talkative as he
Looking shaky old and weak
And hardly able for to speak.

He fought and beat the very best
And he proved himself in every test
But champions they grow old and gray
And like old soldiers fade away.
