When You And I

When you and I must part forever more
Will those who survive us speak of us and say
They have gone to where none have returned from before
And their souls far distant from where now they lay.

When you and I have been summoned away
By the cold one who instil so much fear
Will those who knew us for us even pray
Though it may not matter as them we may not hear.

When you and I find rest and peace at last
And of cares and worries finally are free
Will one who knew us remember the past
And speak of you and even mention me?

When you and I are no longer seen around
And free of worries about our lack of money and our lack of fame
It should not matter to us then at all
If there is not one mention of our name.

When you and I no longer have to care
Of what others of us might have to say
And life on earth without us will go on
But then again suppose we had our day.
