That Must Remain As A Dream

From the volcanic rocks of the forshore I watch the dolphins surface for air
Their world it is different to our world their world is the saltwater world out there
I believe that dolphins are healers and I believe people who say
That they received energy from patting a dolphin i'd love for to pat one today.

I'd love for to pat a wild dolphin but i am one who cannot swim
And i don't have ways of getting closer i'd love for to pat one of them
Just to feel the wet and cool wildness of these beautiful mammals of the sea
To watch them surface even a privilege for them I do not often see.

I cannot say I know much about dolphins they seem such a mystery to me
Of their restrictions of saltwater these creatures will never be free
It goes without saying they are intelligent but for a water world they have been designed
And dolphins who are loved by many are quite trusting of humankind.

I cannot swim so I cannot get near them and of deep water I live in fear
If I had a small boat I would row out there and to them then I would get near
It is not very often I see them and the privilege is all mine 'twould seem
And though I'd love for to pat a wild dolphin for me that must remain as a dream.
