If I

If I should die tomorrow on me don't waste a tear
For from where my bones or ashes lay your sobs I will not hear
And from the cares and trials of life I will have found a release
So do not waste your grief on me and I will rest in peace.

If I should go tomorrow into the great unknown
'Twould be nice if you said of me that the seeds of good he has sown
And that you smile and remember me and with fondness you recall
At least he stood for something good a fair go for one and all.

If I should leave tomorrow for the place of no return
For me do not go to church to pray or a candle for me burn
Or do not bring flowers to my grave and of me only say
We will leave him to Nature now and he too had his day.

If I should die tomorrow do not waste your tears on me
For of the cares of living I will finally be free
And do not visit the cemetery and flowers on my grave site lay
Just get on with your living and I will be okay.
