Heather wrapped a blanket around her in her final resting bed
And Laz and I we shovelled earth upon her beside the garden shed
And in her old home in Brown Street her bones at rest now lay
The old brown canine Woofy her lot will be ours one day.
When Heather and Laz said goodbye to Woofy tears from them not far away
As we stood around her gravesite few words we had to say
'Twas not a time for talking when a friend was laid to rest
On such very sad occasions silence is always best
Woofy a female kelpie x heeler cross she was not short or tall
And Heather and Laz will reminisce and with fondness they'll recall
Their dear departed canine she was their trusting friend
And her love for them unconditional right till her very end.
We dug a grave for Woofy in the drought hardened ground
And as we shovelled earth on her the silence was profound
I felt for Heather and Laz and the way that they did feel
Their friend was gone forever and their sadness it was real.
