The End Of My World

The end of my world will be my end and that only applies to me
For human beings will live on this Planet and birds will sing on bush and tree
In centuries from now and long after when we are forgotten and gone
The years will come and go like the Seasons and life as usual will go on.

Remember 'Death The Leveller' by James Shirley his memorable words still ring true
The reaper who will claim president and monarch is the one who will claim me and you
The good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly are one day destined for to die
And the wealthy and those with power and influence are only as mortal as i.

So little time to enjoy Nature we worry our short lives away
And before we realize it we have grown old like flowers we are quick to decay
The birds are singing all around us yet we don't stop and listen to hear
And the longer we live it is obvious our date with the reaper is near.

The teenagers of the nineteen fifties are old men and women today
And their children now in their forties use hair dyes to cover their gray
Their weeks, months and years went so quickly and time for them did not seem to wait
And they do share one thing in common with the reaper they all have a date.

The end of my world will be my end but in many centuries from now
Children will play with their toys in the sunshine and birds will sing on the leafy bough
And life it will go on as usual and the seasons they will come and go
And the mountain rill will flow to the river and the river to the ocean will flow.
