They proudly waved Australian flags and sung Advance Australia Fair
And Aussie Jock wearing Scottish kilts piped a familiar air
Australians all let us rejoice and let the music play
And we as people are as one on this Australia Day.
The dark skinned indigenous man plays on his didgeridoo
His people were the first Aussies to hunt the kangaroo
And people from around the globe from Rome to Katmandu
Profess their love for this great Land 'Australia we love you'
A young Aboriginal woman named Australian of the year
And to the World champion athlete they raise their glass of cheer
A legendary figure they sing her praises loud
Good on you Cathy Freeman you've made Australians proud.
Australia day comes once a year so why not celebrate
And toast those men and women who made this Country great
Not Prime Ministers or Premiers or those the masses acclaim
But all of those unsung heroes who never enjoyed fame.
They sing Waltzing Matilda and Advance Australia Fair
And their flags and balloons waving in the warm summer air
And the happy sun bronzed Aussie to the person near him say
Hope life is good for you mate have a nice Australia Day.
