In Distance Far Away

On the high field beside the hill
The babble of the mountain rill
And skylark from the bracken fly
To carol in the morning sky
The tiny brown wren with the big bird song
Once heard you cannot get him wrong
And chaffinch, robin and song thrush
Can be heard sing on tree and bush
White blossoms cloak the hawthorn trees
And the blackbird's voice floats in the breeze,
White breasted dipper is in song
Where the stream goes gurgling along
Through the old fields at the break of day
From here in distance far away.
