He was a schoolboy of the fifties the gray haired ageing one of today
His better years are long behind him how quickly the time ticked away
He can only talk of his young years he wishes he could turn back time
To his golden years in his twenties when he was at the height of his prime
In his younger years he played football going back some three decades ago
He was a quick man on his feet then but nowadays his fastest is slow
Some of his old friends are deceased now and the rest looking wrinkled and gray
The biologiocal clock ever ticking and time to none respect does pay
He was a schoolboy of the fifties how quickly the years seemed to fly
An ageing man gray haired and wrinkled he will be sixty five in July
He walks with the stiffness that age brings he was one who could run quite fast
But that was in the sixties and seventies his better days are in the past
He was a schoolboy of the fifties but that was a long time ago
And now he is in his mid sixties and walking quite stiffly and slow.
