Old Jack At The Corner

Old Jack at the corner he is his own man
With a mind of his own his type do seem quite rare
He does not have a political party he does not talk sport
But he is kind hearted and with others he share.

In the ways of the World one might say he is wise
One could say he has far more wisdom than most
He does not follow the leader like the common flock do
And to president or monarch he does not drink a toast.

Old Jack at the corner is a likeable sort
Trustworthy and gentle he would not harm a fly
He says the only god is the god within
His god is not there somewhere up in the sky.

Old Jack at the corner he does his own thing
And though community meetings he never attend
To help others out he goes out of his way
And to many he is such a very good friend.

The Jack's of the corner to say the least rare
Since his very equal would be hard to find
A man with compassion a beautiful soul
Than him one could not meet one more trustworthy or kind.
