She had turned seventy nine in July of last year
And today she was buried the lovely old dear
She was never a mother or never a wife
And she worked as a nursing sister all of her working life.
'Tis sad to think we'll never see her again
But with us fond memories of her will remain
A down to earth lady one free of conceit
Always seemingly happy and a pleasure to meet.
We know that as usual life it will go on
But it is sad to think from the town she has gone
We'll miss her for her warmth and her smiling face
A person like her there is none to replace.
Like the food that we eat on us a use by date
And old father time on none of us does wait
But she was one who was worthy of a tear
And from the old town we will miss the old dear.
