Memories Of Baxter's Land

Though i never may see Baxter's land again
Fond memories of the place with me remain
I often walked Heather Tobias female Kelpie Nugget there
A chocolate brown one more dark brown than a hare.

Home of grey roo and the less plentiful swamp wallaby
Standing still amongst the bracken from a safe distance watching me
Before turning and bounding uphill from view to disappear
Of dog and man they hold a natural fear.

In Baxters lake home of the wild and free
So many species of waterbirds to see
Moorhen, black duck, swamphen, swan and coot to name a common few
There is a bird screen there where from them you can view.

The grassy pathways they wind up and down
Through Baxters land near old Wonthaggi Town
A place i used to love in days gone by
On looking back the time does quickly fly.
