The greyness of the dawning brings light to the tall gum trees
And there is a pleasant freshness in the gentle mountain breeze
That blows it's way through Monbulk up through the wooded hill
When Nature lover Alison Minty her bird feeders does fill.
A woman who loves Nature one can only visualize
Her in her garden in the morning as the sun begins to rise
Above the tall trees of Monbulk as it lights the morning sky
As she watches the beautiful crimson rosellas feed on her bird feeders nearby.
A person who loves Nature of her type we need more
For Nature now is in need of more friends than she's ever had before
Due to climate change and global warming wildlife is becoming rare
And we need far more like Alison who for Nature genuinely care.
Monbulk in the Dandenong Ranges is a familiar place to me
A place of great natural beauty as all who know of it would agree
Home of many parrot species, lyrebird, magpie, magpie lark, kookaburra, shrike thrush, currawong
And many other species who do greet each dawn in song
And home of Nature lover Alison Minty to her credit is only due
One who wakes to feed the birds at dawn to the higher self is true
For the creatures living wild and free this is a critical time
And to the woman who loves Nature i dedicate this rhyme.
