A cruel word once spoken is hard to take back
For nothing hurts worse than a verbal attack
The words meant to hurt can be hard to forgive
But with toxic people we must learn to live
The sting of harsh words to your feelings cause pain
And with you for many years linger and remain
Yes words used against you in a hurtful way
With your confidence and feelings havoc can play
And injury to feelings time can only repair
And sad to think toxic people are not rare
A few toxic people in every town
They build you a little and then drag you down
But where the flowers are a few weeds also grow
And appreciate your friend and put up with your foe.
