They Did Not Have The Chance

They did not have the chance to even say
We love you dear before she went away
Into that world where human spirits go
The place of which no mortal seems to know.

They did not have the chance to say goodbye
And tell her 'to us you were a source of joy'
As she was healthy she had not been sick
In human life things can happen so quick.

The body for the soul is just a shell
And is there an after life? then who can tell
As there seems to be no way of finding out
And those who claim they know still sow the seeds of doubt.

They did not have the chance to say adieu
And whisper to her words like we love you,
They've got photographs and lock of her golden hair
But young daughter they love is now elsewhere.

Their laughing blue eyed girl has gone away
'She would have been fourteen on her next birthday'
And the tear wells of their hearts have been shed dry
And they did not have the chance to say goodbye.
