Many years have since departed since I've sat and penned a rhyme
Saying I would return to Ireland I'd be back there come spring time
And though I've not physically returned to Ireland you may find it a surprise
That I've been back there in spirit since I've learnt to visualize.
Yes I've been back home to Ireland and believe me when I say
That I've seen the wild flowers blooming in green meadows far away
And I've heard the skylark piping o'er the bogs of Claraghatlea
And the meadow pipits singing in the pleasant month of May.
And I've watched the local Rovers on March sunday bleak and gray
Defeat a team from County Kerry in another great display
I have stood there on the touch line as I've oft times done before
And applauded their achievement as the winner they did score.
Through the streets of Belgrave in Victoria traffic passing up and down
Many miles from Clara Mountain and the fields by Millstreet Town
But I can return to Ireland all I have to do is close my eyes
And I'm back there in one minute since I've learnt to visualize.
