For Some Life It doesn't Seem Fair At All

One can say that the price he has paid
For every mistake he has made
For driving with a suspended licence he spent six months in jail
And his life so far a sorry tale.

To the police he is well known
The reason they won't leave him alone
A few times a week sometimes more
The cops they will knock on his door.

To ask him where were you last night
A car stolen from under the street light
Just outside of the general store
We thought with that you might help us some more?.

He says again I can't help you
With that car theft I had nothing to do
Last night I was watching T.V.
Why do you keep pestering me?.

A young man not yet in his prime
He has been through a turbulent time
He will be twenty one next july
Not that long ago he was a boy.

Although he is one who served time
He has never been guilty of a serious crime
Yet the police often pay him a call
For some life it doesn't seem fair at all.
