What I'm about to say here is not anything that's new
Since it has been quoted by more than a few
If you do not respect others they will not respect you
This makes sense to me and so obviously true
You hurt somebody's feelings you they may forgive
But the slight may stay with that person for as long as he or she live
Sometimes before speaking once one ought to think twice
It never does cost anything to be nice
From hurting others feelings friends you will not gain
And from words meant to offend the hurt does remain
Those who with their words find pleasure in causing offense
Are people who sadly lack in common sense
The person who never does put others down
Is never the most disliked one in the town.
