Where I Was Born And Raised

Where i was born and raised the changes have been happening
Though I've not seen the place for twenty years
And though one is never too old for feelings of nostalgia
I am a bit old for nostalgic tears.

Where i was born and raised i first fell in love with Nature
And of some of Nature's ways I've got to know
The dark brown white breasted dipper sang out in the river
Upon a rock around where the rapids did flow.

In Spring the tiny brown wren he sang out in the hedgerow
For a wee one his song was loud and clear
And the voice of the cuckoo echoed in the woodland
A voice that was so pleasant for to hear.

Where i was born and raised the babies back then
Have grown into young adults since i last lived there
And i hear back there that the changes have been happening
But the changes are occuring everywhere.
