I Yearn For Places

I yearn for places far from the noisy street
Out there where the creek and the river does meet
Where butcherbird sings in the warmth of the day
In a place of many trees off of the noisy highway
From the suburban factory chimney smoke darkens the sky
And noisy cars and trucks buzz up and down on the freeway nearby,
The hills of the west in the distance i see
The quiet countryside ever beckoning me
Though such places becoming rarer 'twould seem
I long to be where Nature does reign supreme
Out there in the land of roo, wombat, shrike thrush and crow
Where the babbling creek to the river does flow
Away from where loud traffic buzzes up and down
Where the creek meets the river many miles from the town.
