The Builders Of The Town

Some of them now lay in the town cemetery
Whilst some others with their wives grow old gracefully
Though the passing of time have left them feeble and gray
Time never waits for anyone it does seem that way.

In their working years they worked hard for every pay
And for them there never was an easy day
The aged quiet achievers strangers to renown
The once broad shouldered men the builders of this town.

In their honour there never has been a parade
Though their debt to society they surely have paid
They worked hard to support their wives and their children and hard times they see
And they helped for to build up the economy.

Time has left them feeling stiffer and walking more slow
The builders of the town many years ago
Those we take for granted and never celebrate
Though they paved the way to a prosperous State.
