I visualize them as they were some twenty years ago
But were I to meet them today perhaps them I'd not know
And me they may not recognize if by chance we did meet
We may pass each other by as strangers do when walking down the street.
We had our good days one suppose though time for us did not wait
And on each and everyone of us there is a use by date
Our life's journeys took us on different roads though some remained by the old hill
Some others had the wander bug yet time for none stood still.
We had our good days one suppose but nothing seems to last
And the present is all we have got we cannot live in the past
We have good memories to retain but the past from us has gone
And yet our irrestible urge for life help to keep us keeping on.
When I last saw them twenty years ago I was then past my prime
Yet two decades in a human life span seems a lengthy span of time
And the memories of what used to be we only can retain
And in my memory they have not aged as they were they remain.
