For many years she lived in the Parish where I grew to be a man
And in human years one might say she had a lengthy span
And Julia was in her early nineties when the reaper called her name
Still at the sad news of her passing I felt saddened just the same.
In Ferim near Ballydaly she lived for more than two thirds of her life
And Julia nee Mahony to Johnny Sullivan was a good and loving wife
And a good mother to Jimmy and to Eileen and to Maureen and D J and Ann
And she was one admired by many where I grew into a man.
From Gullane near Gneeveguilla not that distant from Rathmore
Julia came to live in Ferim from Millstreet Town three miles or four
And she is one I will remember until the day I die
She was such a lovely person and knowing her was a joy.
A role model of my boyhood she is one I won't forget
And people like Julia Sullivan outlive the grave of death
She never harmed anybody and she would help you if she could
And there was so much to like about her in her there was only good.
It is only the human remains lay in the field of the dead
And dust thou art and to dust returneth of the body only said
And to the reaper who will claim us all her remains may be gone
But the great soul of Julia Sullivan is destined to live on.
She was a middle aged woman when I was a school going lad
And at the sad news of the death of Julia I could not help but feel sad
She was a kind hearted person and good memories of her I recall
And the reaper who has claimed her he will one day claim us all.
