Not Fit To Be King

Long dead but not forgotten though not for any good in life he done
And those who look for heroes his type will always shun
He had two of his wives beheaded the cruel and callous one
Catherine Howard for infidelity and Anne Boleyn did not bear him a son.

King Henry the eight the murderer one who abused his power
He went into his fifties moody withdrawn and sour
He must have hated womankind how else can one explain
The way he treated his queens impervious to their pain.

He did not pay for his crimes he died on his royal bed
And one might truly say of him his power went to his head
Coldness and lack of compassion and acts of inhumanity
Are all there in the history of the British Monarchy.

He died in his mid to his late fifties more than four hundred and fifty years ago
One who lacked in compassion and mercy he did not show
To women that he once loved and of him it can be said
That he was not fit to be king for power went to his head.
