Napoleon

He was not tall and broad shouldered he was slightly built and small
Yet in France they still revere him as the greatest of them all
He led the world's greatest army and by him the masses were inspired
People loved the little general he was feted and admired.

Taken prisoner by the British after defeat at Waterloo
And imprisoned by them at St Helena where only unhappiness he knew
And he died seven years later he did not live to grow old
Yet the story of his greatness has so often been re-told.

Napoleon Bonaparte the little general led his army to many a victory
And his name will live forever in the great book of history
But at Waterloo he did surrender there things did not work out to plan
And he was exiled and imprisoned and he died a broken man.

The best of goods come in small parcels those words to Napoleon must apply
And though since he led his great army near two centuries gone by
He will always be remembered as the inspiring little guy
And his legend is still living and his fame will never die.
