And many claim he was Dromtarriffe's and Cork's greatest
But since I never saw him play I would not know.

He played with top players with such as Matt John and Miah Murphy
And Dromtarriffe were the hardest to beat then
They played against the best teams in Cork County
And seldom came back home without a win.

The only Cork player then to play for Munster
He and fourteen from Kerry took on Ireland's best
The old timers with nostalgia still remember
How well he performed when put to the test.

Back in the glory days of old Dromtarriffe
Dick Harnedy became known far and wide
He was known through the length and breath of Ireland
Far from the borders of his countryside.
