In small family groups birds that i often see
They hop on ground near hedge, bush or small tree
The dominant male is dark blue the younger males and females a lightish gray
I've seen them in the Winter sunshine today.
They seem no larger than large butterflies
And their long brown tails seems more than half their size
Superb blue wrens for them a given name
Compared to most others birds they almost do seem tame.
Like most tiny birds they do not live that long
Only a couple of years for love and song
They soon grow old and fleeting is their prime
They soon fall victim to old father time.
A squeaky sort of song the male does sing
One often hear them in the warmth of Spring
They hop on ground in search of insect prey
And i see them often though not every day.
