She will not grow gray and bent with age and her sight won't slowly fade
The ten year old in Lebanon who died in a bombing raid
Her shattered mother racked with grief weeps for her night and day
It seems all wrong that one so young should die in such a way.
For to be in the wrong place and be there at the wrong time
It does seem very sad to say was the young girl's only crime
Deep in Nature's dark bosom her bones forever lay
Yet for the crimes of others should she be the one to pay?
We hear of the claims and counter claims of who is right and wrong
But the high Moral ground to any warring State it never does belong
Her death seen by some as collateral as if she did not count
As if her marvellous gift of life to nothing did amount.
One of the flowers that bloomed in a garden where weeds grow rank and rife
One that she never even knew took from her the gift of life
Too late to say we are sorry her death it was not meant
How come the deaths of the war innocents so few seem to lament?
Her parents left to grieve for her and her poor mother in tears
The pain of their heart-breaking loss will stay with them for years
And she will never fall in love or give birth to a girl or boy
Such things that most take for granted she did not live to enjoy.
