She is in her early forties single and carefree
And few of her age are as happy as she
And though she has seen many places she says more yet to see
The one from the roadway to old Knocknagree.
At the Normandy pub on a saturday night
She drinks with her mates and of their small cares make light
And tell stories of Sliabh Luachra from here far away
She has left the hills but the hills in her stay.
A woman from Sliabh Luachra a distant countryside
For it's bards and musicians that is known far and wide
It has been twenty years since she has seen her home-shore
And her old home by the road that winds down to Rathmore.
With the first strands of gray in her hazel brown hair
She wants to see more of the bigger World out there
From Knocknagree an old Village on the higher ground
With views of the Boggeragh hills all around.
