I Will Not Applaud You

You tell me of how brave and of how marvellous you are
And that for my free speech you fought in a war
But I did not ask you to risk your life for me
So I will not applaud you for your chivalry.

You feel the World without you to live in would be a worse place
Though I notice equality you do not embrace
You boast you risked your life for my free speech but the fact you cannot face
That equality too is of gender and race.

So full of yourself you feel God is on your side
And the trigger for most wars is National pride
That you fought for your Country so proudly you brag
But 'twould seem that you carry your pride in a flag.

When you say you fought for my free speech I feel like laughing at you
To one's self alone one can only be true
It was not for me that you travelled far
For to shoot at strangers in another man's war.
