Goodbye to Kate and Tommy goodbye to Jean and Joe
And all the people who know me and everyone I know
In the old coastal country I will carry with me
Memories of familiar faces in the town close to the sea.
My bones won't rest in this town I'll end my days elsewhere
Far from the coastal country and the clean and healthy sea air
I will be moving Inland to a quiet inland town
In the flat open countryside of paddocks wide and brown.
Good bye to everybody who helped me in any way
And you I will remember until my dying day
And you who do not like me to you no ill I bear
Suppose in the common bond that some have we did not seem to share.
Goodbye to all you people who reside in my street
To some of you I never spoke we remained silent when we did meet
You can choose your friends but not your family who spoke those words spoke true
It's just we never became friends but then friends are so few.
Goodbye to everybody though without parting tears
Some of you I did get to know I've lived here for six years
I will miss the coastal country but life without me will go on
In the town close to the ocean shore when from it I have gone.
