The former rose of Ballydaly where might she be today
And have the decades wearied her and has time left her looking gray?
One of Duhallow's finest when I was a Schoolboy
On looking back the decades how quickly time does fly.
Way back in the late fifties and that's going back in time
She left old Ballydaly when she was in her prime
I last saw her in Millstreet Town her brown hair wet with rain
And the memory of her beauty today with me remain.
The present rose of Ballydaly I would not even know
Since I left that old green Countryside many Seasons ago
Like many more before me did I left the Homeland shore
And nowadays I live far distant from the roadway to Rathmore.
The former rose of Ballydaly nowadays may be unsung
But I still see her as she once was in my thoughts she remains young
When she left Ballydaly for a Land beyond the sea
She was missed for her charm and youth and beauty and her I never more did see.
