On Koalas Fighting

Out there in the front yard in the dead of the night
The koalas they grunt and they snarl as they fight
Quite cuddly to look at in the light of day
But their territorial disputes far rougher than play
With them there is far more than mere pride at stake
They keep me awake with the racket they make
Dispossession for a male koala is a tragedy
They live in danger without a territory
They snarl and grunt as they do fight it out
Wrestle and claw at each other and use teeth and mouth
A koala without a territory may as well be dead
For tonight's loser there are tough times ahead
They fill the night air with their hoarse warring cry
Whilst a November moon steals through the starry sky.
