I remember him in short pants as a primary school going boy
His childhood years in Millstreet he surely did enjoy
But with his family he left Millstreet many decades ago
And distant from Duhallow into manhood he did grow
Since i last saw Tommy Horgan some five decades have gone by
Swimming with others in a Finnow pool on a warm evening in July
And sad am i to hear he passed away at the age of fifty four
Far from Millstreet Town by Clara hill overlooking Claramore
From his Hometown of Millstreet he died so far away
And the changes keep on happening in the Duhallow of today
With his young friends as a schoolboy some four decades ago
He swam in a sunlit pool where the Finnow waters flow
On to the Blackwater on through North Cork to the sea
Far from the places that he loved he now rests eternally.
