Michael Sullivan

The quiet man from Rathduane those who knew him will recall
But the reaper claimed the life of him early the one who will claim the life of us all
Just short of his sixth decade at rest he forever lay
If there is a hereafter no need for him to pray.

A good man Michael Sullivan good as one could wish to meet
He will be missed from Ballydaly and the Parish of Millstreet
Devoted to his family in him there was so much good
He was one who would not harm you he would help you if he could.

A quietly spoken fellow one with few words to say
He worked hard for a livelihood lived life in the quiet way
In the flesh in Ballydaly he will not be seen again
But fond memories of the man he was with those who knew him will remain.

I last met Michael Sullivan more than two decades ago
He was a thorough gentleman one i was privileged to know
One can say of him he left his mark in his not too long life span
And it can be truly said of him that he was a gentleman.
