Though the flag of any Nation means nothing to me
A fellow from Ireland is all i can be
From the place i was born and raised in i live far away
And i might feel a stranger in the old Townland today
I never joined the army i was never that brave
And the tricolour of Ireland i never did wave
Yet i have good memories and more than a few
Of places i loved and of places i knew
I'm not patriotic of that i won't lie
And for love of any Country i never would die
As a Patriot or Nationalist I've never been known
Like 'tis said it does take all kinds and to each their own
But in fancy i walk in the old fields again
And i hear the birds sing in the wind and the rain.
